luckily, i work part time in a store that has a wine department. i talked to the head of the department, and he started bringing me sandwich bags of corks about every other week. he does a lot of wine tasting parties, so he accumulated them fairly quickly.
THEN, he gave me a plastic shopping bag full of corks! and a week later, a bag 3x that size!! so now i have around 1,000 corks (maybe more?).
with christmas coming up in 2 days, i hadn't completely figured out what to give my best friend. we've been friends since age 2 and don't get to see each other that much anymore because she now has a family and i moved an hour away. we still exchange presents for birthdays and christmas, though. so i'm getting her this fabulous light up lip gloss from my business and i made her this last night:
what do you think? it was super easy...i just took a wooden board i had lying around for a while and used aleene's clear tacky glue to glue them on. i'm hoping they'll stick ok. i was going to try my hand at hot glue (a nemesis of mine), but the glue sticks i had gotten were too big for the gun.
now i just have to figure out how to wrap it!

That's so cool! I don't drink too much wine either, but I think this might convince me to start downing more glasses. :P
