a tribute

on tuesday, at 3:45, i was listening to the usual talk radio station that i like tuning into at work, and i heard the words "heath ledger" and "dead". i was like "waaaait a minute!" and then rewound it on my computer (it was streaming), and listened closer. they said that heath ledger was found dead that afternoon in a manhattan apartment. that couldn't be true!

i've had a celebrity crush on him since he was in "roar" in 1997. becca and i swooned....i didn't know who this cute guy with a funny accent was at the time, but i knew i liked what i saw. apparently that was the first gig he had in the US. i distinctly remember one line from the show "does the blood make you stronger?!?!" (said "strong-uh" with his accent)

not only was he good looking with a dreamy accent, i could tell he was a genuine guy....his acting was very believable, and from the accounts i've heard about him since his death, he was constantly helping strangers. one woman wrote into cnn saying that she had a flat tire on the side of the road and hear a deep voice behind her, asking if she wanted help, and it was heath. he proceeded to change her tire and go on his merry way.

i've read that he had been thinking about directing. that would have been great to see what he would've come up with. and, of course, i've heard he did a phenomenal job as the joker in the upcoming batman movie, and that they were going to base all of their marketing for the movie around him, but now they're going to change it. it was kind of creepy seeing the picture of him as the joker writing in blood "why so serious" on glass.

the last movie i saw heath in was the movie based on bob dylan called "i'm not there". he played an actor who played a character that portrayed bob dylan, butt i think that his life was supposed to represent part of bob's as well. how is it that even though he was a big jerk in the movie, i could still like him a lot? he was just likeable, i guess.

now, everytime something new comes up about his death, i gobble up the information. i hate consuming media stories like that, but i am really interested in this. i don't like how it's becoming an entertainment story, though. that's one of the many things that sucks about being famous.

anyway, this seems to be a ramble, stream-of-consciousness style. the point is, the entertainment industry has lost a rising talented actor/director. and i'm sure many people are hurt personally by this tragedy. we'll miss you, heath. i'm going to have a tribute marathon of his movies, if anyone would like to join me.
