feelin' hatty!

yes, it's been a while. but i have been busy, i swear!  between having 2 jobs (one fulltime, one part time), a business, working out and spending quality time with friends and family, i've hardly found the time to breathe, much less blog! it will clear up soon, though, i think (well, at least the multiple job part....i honestly wouldn't know what to do with myself if i weren't busy with something!)

today, i decided to blog about two nifty hats that i recently received from some creative people.

if you haven't had the chance to visit frenchy's site, i highly recommend you do! she has many neat things that she's created, and has had a few giveaways as well!  here's what i recently won:

(yes, i believe it's the same hat in her blog's banner!)

i've already gotten many compliments on it, and i've only worn it out once so far!   it's very high quality, too...i have two other fedoras, and they're not quite as nice as this one! :) thanks, frenchy!

remember those chicken candles i made a while ago for the fur and feather swap? well guess what....they didn't sell!!! the upside to this is that i traded them for a made-especially-for-me chicken hat created by my sister's coworker (who doesn't have a blog or etsy site, even though i told her she totally could!):

(please ignore the tiredness in my eyes - this was late last night after working almost 40 hours in three days!)

(and yes, i take pictures in my bathroom. best lighting, and i can look at the camera screen in the mirror)

(if you haven't noticed, i'm kind of addicted to using parentheses!! haha!)

it's kind of goofy, i know, but i love it! she asked me what color i wanted (all the others she made were plain white, yellow, and brown), and i asked for black and white so i could look like more of a specific chicken breed (i'm a dork). she picked some uber-soft yarn and it fits me perfectly! she should totally start a chicken hat business! she already made a bunch for this cooking group that wanted them. :)

...maybe if enough people want them, she could start taking orders! she whipped mine up pretty fast!

and on a different note, i saw my apartment manager yesterday, who had shown our apartment a week or so ago, and she told me she really liked my "flower shaped mirror piece" on my wall.  i told her "thanks! i made it!" ....if she was sitting on a chair, she would've fallen off of it! she was really impressed! and the best part is - it was uber easy to make. here's the link to my post about it.

that's all i have for now. i've got a few ideas up my sleeve for my next craft project (i know, i say that a lot. but it's true!)

You make such a nice model for the hats! You should send the pix to the hat creators so they can use them to promote their wares!

wow, frenchy! i didn't realize you knew your chicken breeds! :D

i was originally thinking of a barred rock when i was visualizing the final product, but you're right...the way the yarn colors lay out together look more like a silver laced wyandotte! i don't remember off the top of my head if they have the same kind of comb (they might have a rose comb...).

thanks for the compliments and for "showing me off"! :D and for the friendship, of course!

(and beth, i already thanked you for your comment, sistah!)
